Holiday Mini Sessions in Carroll County
I am so excited for my Holiday Minis this weekend! I can’t wait to see so many familiar faces and see how much your kids have grown over the past year! Please take a moment to review this helpful guide on preparing for your mini session.
First off, please take a look at the images below to see parts of my set that will be there on Sunday. This can be helpful when planning your outfit! I would recommend avoiding a lot of reds in your outfits so you don’t clash with the sofa!
What do I wear?
My first rule is to wear what you feel comfortable & confident in! Do you want cozy photos in leggings & a chunky sweater? Go for it! Or would you rather have formal family photos? Whatever it may be, I say rock it! Make sure you try on the outfits you choose before the day of the session, that way if something doesn't fit right you'll be able to replace it in time. Also, iron clothes to remove wrinkles (this goes for new clothing with creases as well!). Wrinkles in clothing are very noticeable in photos.
Keep in mind the location. These sessions are held outside. Will the outfits harmonize with your surroundings? Will you be able to wear heels while walking through a field? Probably not. However, if you are dying to wear heels, bring other shoes to walk in until we get to our location. Most importantly, make sure you match the other people involved in your session! Please wear clothes that you will be warm in as well. The beginning of November can get chilly! If you need any help picking out outfits please feel free to call or email me! Pinterest is a helpful tool when deciding on outfits. Check out some of my boards here.
Should I get hair & makeup professionally done?
Hair and makeup is always a good idea when having professional photos done. A professional makeup artist knows how to apply makeup that will look amazing in your photos. However, if you don’t want professional makeup or hair for your session, no worries!
What do I bring?
The most important thing to bring to the shoot is a great attitude and a smile! If you want to bring any props (signs, blankets, mugs, etc.) make sure you put them in your car the night before. Keep in mind that your session is only 15 minutes, so too many props can be overwhelming. I recommend a max of 2 props. Your payment is due at the end of your session. Please bring cash or a check to pay.
I'm scared my kids won't cooperate...
Let's be honest, kids have their good days and their bad days. I recommend bringing some snacks for "bribing" and a favorite toy (for the younger ones!) to get their attention for the posed photos. I like to have fun in between serious photos, so don't be surprised when I ask everyone to make a silly face! My photography style is a mixture of posed and candid photos, which is great for kids!
Can I bring my pets?
I encourage you to bring your fur babies; they are part of the family! If you are bringing a pet I REQUIRE you to bring someone who can watch them during the photos that they are not involved in. I can’t hold a camera and a puppy at the same time! Please bring bags to clean up after your dog! (Pro tip: If you come from a house with pets, a lint roller is a good item to bring as well!)
What to Expect.
If this is your first professional photo shoot you probably have no idea what you are in for! Whatever you do, don’t worry! I like to laugh and make jokes while getting some beautiful photos of you and your family. When it comes to posing, I will guide you through it and make it comfortable and fun. I will scope out the location we are shooting at to find beautiful spots.
It is extremely important to be on time for your session. If you are late I cannot guarantee I will be able to extend your session due to lighting conditions and previously scheduled sessions.
When will I get my gallery?
Your online, high-resolution gallery will be delivered to the email address you provided me within 3 weeks. You may print professional photos directly from that gallery, or you may choose to download the photos and print them at a lab of your choice. Canvases, albums and additional print products may be purchased through Sarah Wockenfuss Photography.
